We have a automatic gate for our guests
convenience and security, these are
monitored by CCTV 24 hours a day.  The

represent in fo

Sandstone is carved at our guesthouse, in the form of statues and garden art by Basotho and Zimbabwean artists.
When we carve in stone such as
"Welcome"
we really mean it!

The well established park like gardens are
pleasant for walks.
Antique sandstone buildings are present,
and are currently used as sheds.

The described entrance is in fact the north entrance to our guest house. There is a south entrance to our guest house at about 500 metres distance from the north entrance. This south entrance to pur guest house used to be the main entrance till the beginning of 2005. This was then changed due to the fact that the south entrance to our guesthouse arrives at the back side of the house and the north entrance at the front side.

The road from the north entrance to the guesthouse and then continuing to the south entrance used to be the public road as it is still visible on the cadastral maps (which are still outdated).

The existing public road R505 (a bypass of the road R711 from Clarens to Fouriesburg) is now running at the back side of the guesthouse at a higher level then the old road in front of the guesthouse.

Clarens Guest Houses

Visitors to the quaint village of Clarens are spoilt for choice with a host of galleries, craft shops and restaurants to explore, while the more adventurous in the family can indulge themselves in the many outdoor pursuits on offer. Clarens has become an artist’s haven, possibly lured here by the unique golden light cast by the sun on the cliffs of the Golden Gate Highlands National Park. Even the ancient inhabitants of the Clarens countryside were inspired to express themselves artistically as is evident from the many Bushman paintings in the surrounding sandstone cliffs.

It is a destination for the whole family. Dad can go golfing or trout fishing while Mum browses the shops at her leisure or enjoys a spot of tennis. The teens can go horse riding, river rafting or play paintball games while the younger children hunt bones on the Dinosaur trail. Grandparents can indulge in the more leisurely pursuits of bowls, game watching and bird spotting.

Clarens is fast becoming a retreat for established and budding artists where they can practice their craft in the beautiful surrounds of the Eastern Free State. Clarens and the surrounding area is a source of inspiration for many artists. Clarens is not short of arts, crafts, traditional curios and blankets, art galleries, gift shops, pottery studios, a huge variety of handmade items, antiques and much more.  Spend a day walking around Clarens visiting all these shops.
